Virtual Classes
The opportunity to continue education in a virtual way was something I always considered but never thought would be adopted. With our current world and situation families are forced into the new normal of using our electronics to stream education into their homes.
I am so lucky to be able to connect with the kids I love so much with strict restrictions on gathering. Using multiple platforms I find my self utilizing so many types of virtual connection.
One studio we are doing live broadcast with Facebook live. We have members and new attendees donating to keep our studio afloat accessing content live and through the day for 24 hours. It is wonderful to have a collection to access and keep the community together and support our studio.
I have another studio that utilized zoom as our connection for our competition team. This is also great to be able to asses the group and still communicate one on one at times. We can do activities and screen share as well as dance at the same time. With so many accessing this avenue there is a lot of lag which isn’t very efficient for dance. There is some frustration from the younger dancers who don’t have as much understand how the internet works. Not my favorite way of continuing dance education but the best with a specific group.
Last but not least the most effective for private lessons, good ole FaceTime. I love how clean and clear the picture is and how there is not a problem with lag. I wish that there was a combination of all these avenues to form the perfect group interaction forum. Im sure someone in silicon valley has it up their sleeve with so many servers ready to deliver.
In the meantime we will continue over multiple platforms keep the smiles alive with our virtual classes and connection to each other and the arts. We have to demonstrate kindness and patience.
